Caroline Springs
Caroline Springs is a rapidly developing residential area about 25km west of Melbourne CBD. Development of the area commenced in the late 1990s with the construction of the Delfin Caroline Springs estate and the population quadrupled between 2001 and 2006. Population growth is expected to reach 15,000 by 2015 due to its rural-urban fringe status, idyllic location and friendly locals.
The Kororoit Creek Trail begins in Caroline Springs and runs through the centre of the suburb as a share path for cyclists and pedestrians. Due to the development of large lakes and wetlands throughout the area, many endangered native species of frogs and other reptiles have prospered.
Notable features of the area include Caroline Springs Square Shopping Centre, Centenary Square, Lake Caroline, Brookside Centre, WestWaters hotel and entertainment complex as well as numerous schools. Caroline Springs is close to Ballarat Road and Western Ring Road, providing straightforward travel options.
