Keilor East
Keilor East is 16 km north west of Melbourne CBD. This area grew rapidly in the 1970s and 80s, and is expecting to grow again in the near future as a result of the Valley Lake development on the former Niddrie Quarry site.
Major features of the area include the Centreway, Milleara Shopping Centre, Valley Lake, Rose Hill Park, AJ Davis Reserve, Rose Creek Estate, Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School and a number of other schools. The Maribyrnong River lies to the west of Keilor East and is a popular spot for picnics and trail walking. The Organ Pipes National Park is a short drive away on the Calder Freeway, as is the Calder Park Raceway.
Its central position means easy access to the Calder Freeway, Tullamarine Freeway and the Western Ring Road. Several bus routes also service the area and a proposed railway station to join the Albion-Jacana line is likely to go ahead, which will join Keilor East with Albion and Sunshine.
